To deny that anything is going on, anything secret, that governments do one thing while saying another, that religious icons mean what they say all the while teaching that it is what you say that matters and not what you do, to deny that many of these deceptive undercurrents link up in some way, that the perspective of the railroad tracks join together in the distance (is it an illusion, or do they really link up?) is to close your eyes, smiling, floating in the water, while the great white shark speeds toward you. I'm okay, you're okay, we're all okay, and we all scream for ice scream.
It is happening, right now, all around you. People are disappearing. The terrorists aren't always the unwashed ones with dirty towels on their heads. There are terrorists sitting in high places, dressed in very expensive clothes, with quaffed hair and chiseled fingernails, smelling like roses, moving pieces around on a world map.
You've heard of the Illuminati, but most of what you have heard is utter nonsense. You've heard of "councils" and "families" and the
"threat" of certain nationalities or religious heritages, but most of what you have heard is the stage magician's audience patter, he is telling you interesting stories, in a very charming way, he is your friend, your entertainer, your teacher, your chum, all the while what you think is happening in his left hand is not really happening at all, and just the opposite is going down in his right hand than what you believe.
But you listen to the patter. You clap. You raise your hands at the approrpriate places.
Some fall backward and claim it is from God. Others make silly noises with their mouths and say they are communing with God.
All the while they smile from the magic box, music swells behind them, and they wave their magic wand and doff their magic hat, and they croon magical words: "Miracle! Prosperity! Anointed!"
Words, words, creating with words. Weaving spells. Speaking life. Speaking death.
Abracadabra. Bim salla bim. Presto Chango! Olly olly oxen free! Open sesame.
The people laugh in delight. Weeeeee!
