It is your primary responsibility in life, to THINK, your own thoughts.
When you begin to think, struggle with tough issues, really apply a whole lot of thought to the things people are arguing about, you will probably find that you agree somewhat with this group over here, and a little bit else with this group over here, and you'll find that both groups are wrong in many ways. Both sides (actually, about 50 sides) will attempt to convince you that they've already accomplished the requisite thinking, and that you should not be a "lone wolf," that if you practice thinking your own thoughts you are sinning, or you are a rogue, a troublemaker -- both sides will call the other side evil, and assure you that standing in the middle of the two groups is in fact standing with the enemy. It doesn't matter which group calls themself liberal, or which side says conservative, both sides are playing a knee-jerk game, where the thinking, the truth, the reality is not the important thing, the big thing is beating the other side, brutalizing the evil enemy into submission.
Can a person be an island? Isolated? Separated from the group thinkers, the knee-
jerkers, the thought sheep, the idiots, the loud, angry, pushy, bigoted blabbermouths?
Probably not. Think about it. We're all idiots. We don't know much. Everyone is educated and wise compared to a bunny.
Let's face it. You are a mess, my dear. Yeah, I include myself, I'm a mess too. And the world is a mess and becoming messier by the moment. To think anything otherwise is to be optimistic to the absurb, or in other words, idiotic up the yin-yang. Face it, life is rough, and then you die (that is, if you attempt to live your life without doing harm to others, and in fact, attempting to help others).
But there is a bigger picture than us, you and me, them and us and I and thee. There is a bigger picture than this moment in time. There is a bigger picture than the next five years.
You can't see the bigger picture with your nose smashed into the canvas. You need to step back, beyond the boundaries of where we stand, the us of us, to take a peek at where the big round ball is heading, and then we need to make a serious prognosis, if only for us.
