Please note, this site and series of novels are not against Christianity or religion in general (or any particular denomination, group, sect or cult), but only that potentially violent carnation of Christianity which would go distinctly against the wishes of Jesus, that is, a religion of force, a religion that seeks to remove choice from the personal spiritual equation. This site and series of novels promotes a relationship with God, specifically with Christ. In Jesus' own day, many of His followers wished Him to violently usurp the Roman Government - Jesus said to give to Caeser what belongs to him, and to God what is His, establishing a separation between church and state. Christianity was NEVER meant to be a ruling force, but a light upon a hill, a witness, seasoning -- an influence, not a hammer. A counselor, not a policeman. When it becomes a ruling force spreading its "doctrines" by law and by might, then it is no longer "Christianity," it is a deadly power loose in the world, as evil and as ungodly as any antichrist mentioned in the Book of Revelation. And if you don't believe it is happening, at this very moment, wake up and WATCH!
"Believing that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their Legislature should 'make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,' thus building a wall of separation between Church and State."

FIVE STARS - Deceiving The Elect - An Eye Opener - Sarah Connor from Takanini, New Zealand
Not only is this story brilliantly written, and the characters believable, but this story is a real eye opener. Many times, when reading other stories that have a similar theme, I felt rather confused from not only a personal standpoint, but also from a biblical standpoint. Often other books of this ilk have left me thinking, no way could that happen, and no way does that have any basis in reality. However, when reading this book, the characters are so believable with their very human flaws, natures and passions. Everything that they think, say and do is believable in that I could actually imagine those things happening, or being said or thought by real people. The story shows how easily one can be suckered into something that is erroneous, and not only that, but how people can be suckered into it without even realising that that is what has happened to them. The consequences to people in the book are the same as they are in real life and as devastating, and if people think it's not happening out there now, well read the book and then see if life does not imitate art. The story clearly shows that it is dangerous to hold any human in such high esteem as to let them dictate what you believe is right and just, and in this world, as in the book the majority of tele evangelists seem to have the monopoly in this arena of behaving like godly men when in fact they are spiders spinning little webs to catch people's minds, hearts and wallets, and this is reflected so well in this book. I believe the author has shown clearly how the meglomaniacs in this book, as in life, with their own agendas, seem able to take biblical truths and twist them into unrecognisable form, which sensible, normally discerning people then somehow manage to swallow as truth. The sadness is that it is so easy for them to do this inside a world where people are hurting and looking for hope, and the author has shown through the more unscrupulous characters in the story how easy it is for the lies and deceit to be perpetrated in real life. This book, I believe, is a warning, because when transferred into the real world, and compared to what is happening in our world, the scenes are not dissimilar. I believe the author of this story, in a way, through his writing, is saying, "Hey guys there's a wreck up ahead, slow down, proceed with caution least you become a part of the wreckage too." In life, as in the book, I can see the Staceys, Brontes, Michaels, Joshuas, Docs, Jacks, Janines and all the others with their personal tics, strengths and weaknesses, proclivities etc. I can see people I know well inside some of these characters, even the less scrupulous characters in the story. Bottom line, this book is an incredibly good read and I hope to see more of the story with the characters that have become dear to my heart. I highly reccommend that people read this book.

FIVE STARS - Deceiving the Elect, the Page Turner!, November 11, 2005
Reviewer: K Barb - I bought this book because I read it has the page turning effect of the Left Behind Series. I was not disappointed. From page one you will feel like you're spying on the lives of characters, both good and detestable and you will get caught up in the circumstances that mold them. When you turn the last page you'll be yearning for Book 2. This book is a must read!
FIVE STARS - Good Read, Great Storytelling, November 4, 2005
Reviewer: The Fark (U.S.) - This book was a kick with some quirky characters and some scary reallife parallels to religious nuts today, Id read it again. Like Judgment Day by Jane Jensen and Michael Crictons State of Fear. Good for people in cults.
FIVE STARS - Fascinating!!! August 31, 2005
Reviewer: IK - I've read a quite a few Christian novels and I have to say that reading this one was a unique experience. It exposes so much of what really goes on in the world today and covers so many things that many writers just don't have the guts to touch upon! I found it impossible to put down and took it with me everywhere until I was done. Even if one does not believe or agree with everything in this novel (hey, how often do people react nicely to the truth?), it's a fascinating work that'll pull you right into it and you just have to fall in love with the style and characters, regardless of your beliefs. While Stacey is trying to pick up the pieces of his broken life, Micheal and Joshua search for a perfect church, and Bronte is just too confused to focus too long on reality and many others are too disillusioned and spiritually traumatized to even care anymore, it's awesome to see God at work and faithful in His promises.

FIVE STARS - a watcher, a reviewer 08/30/05 - Deception at Work - None Exempt.
This novel shows how deception works, how even intelligent people who care about the Truth can yet, in fact, BE DECEIVED. In short, yes, even the Elect of God can be deceived. The process is insidious and overwhelmingly tempting to hand over your right to choice to an 'anointed one,' a guru, a cult leader, a charismatic megalomaniac -- once you decide to allow them to decide, then you are open to ANYthing. All the characters in this novel bump into this eternal choice of fate and react to it in sometimes bizarrely different ways. Reality can be as shockingly contrary to popular belief in measures far beyond the extremes of 'The Matrix' movies. This is a book about 'love growing cold,' the fulfillation of the last of end-time prophecies with a completely original approach compared to such books as 'Left Behind' or 'The Last Disciple' or the fantasy novels of Peretti. Goats can truly believe themselves sheep, and the ravening wolves might honestly 'feel called' to 'serve the flock,' even as each tasty morsel of lamb is consumed. Read this book and you may just well begin to have your own quickening dreams.

FIVE STARS - A reviewer 08/19/05 - An Incredible Work!
I read this book twice and I laughed and cried throughout as I read it. It dives deep into the lives of its' characters and leaves you feeling like you know the people, with whom you end up laughing, for whom you end up hurting in sympathy, and in some cases, on whose behalf you are roused to fury. As Stacey (one of the main characters) struggles to survive the debilitating depression of a failed life, Bronte tries to escape the reality around her as her delicate fingers passionately create ethereal magic on the keys of her piano (those two characters meeting each other is one of my favorite parts of the story). Micheal, Joshua and Grampy Doc are hilarious characters I also fell in love with throughout this novel. For me, reading this work was an amazing experience. One of the things that make it so moving is how real it is as far as portraying the world we live in today (as bad as it is), while still providing ample hope for the very near future!
FIVE STARS - A reviewer 08/19/05 - The best end-times depiction yet written
I've been dissapointed with every end-time novel I've read, 'Left behind' etc., until I read Douglas Larsen's 'Deceiving the Elect'. It is greatly imaginative yet coincides in every way with Bible truth as I know it. The writing is inspired, I believe by God, and Larsen's immense talent for gripping, intricate storytelling makes it one of the best read I've found in years. It seems to be the first in a series and I can't wait to read the next one. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves literature, whether or not you have a faith in God. This writer speaks to the human condition and people everywhere can relate to the struggles of his characters. Larsen breathes life into characters that make you laugh, cry, hurt and rejoice right along with them. These are characters you will enjoy spending time with over and over again. I know I do. So whoever you are, wherever you are, count yourself lucky that you have found this book and enjoy the journey that awaits you!
WRITER'SDIGEST COMMENTARY
Author Douglas Christian Larsen's strong voice in DECEIVING THE ELECT BOOK 1 immediately captivates the reader. The author's voice is unobtrusive, yet instantly recognizable as uniquely his own. The author shows an interest in words and putting them together in unusual and enjoyable ways. For instance, on Page 45, I particularly loved the image of leaves paratrooping. Larsen's imagery is his strength and it shows on every page. The plot is intense and very well researched. The harcover volume is lovely and the cover graphics are sure to entice readers into picking up the book. - Writer'sDigest Commentary

When the Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran calls the United States "the great Satan," we roll our eyes. When the Taliban tears down ancient Buddha statues and beats women publicly for exposing their skin, we applaud its defeat. What we fail to see is how easily American politics can fall into this same trap. Unfortunately, in recent years, there have been indications that we stand perilously close this this abyss.
Many Christians are unaware of a strong undercurrent in conservative Christianity promoting an American jihad. This movement, often referred to as reconstructionism or dominion theology, argues the United States is a Christian nation with the need to purify itself and dominate the world. Originating with a theologian named Rousas John Rushdoony, this movement works to reconstruct a rigid and harsh religious culture based on "biblical" principles. Once the United States is purified, it hopes to use military power to conquer the world. Frederrick Clarkson, in The Public Eye, writes:
Reconstructionism seeks to replace democracy with a theocratic elite that would
govern by imposing their interpretation of "Biblical Law." Reconstructionism would
eliminate not only democracy but many of its manifestations, such as labor unions,
civil rights laws, and public schools. Women would be generally relegated to hearth
and home. Insufficiently Christian men would be denied citizenship, perhaps
executed. So severe is this theocracy that it would extend capital punishment beyond
such crimes as kidnapping, rape, and murder to include, among other things,
blasphemy, heresy, adultery, and homosexuality.
Philip Gulley, James Mulholland, If God is Love,
Rediscovering Grace in an Ungracious World
Is "Christianity" the most virulent rider on a pale horse to ever be loosed upon the world?
“Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than those which spring from any other cause. Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by the difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be depreciated. I was in hopes that the enlightened and liberal policy, which has marked the present age, would at least have reconciled Christians of every denomination so far that we should never again see the religious disputes carried to such a pitch as to endanger the peace of society.”
