Mark 13:22 (NKJV)
Hijacked Christianity is not of God.
But it has always existed, side by side, generally
indistinguishable from Biblical Christianity.
In the first camp is what Ann Coulter calls the "Religion of Godless," an intelligent people that wish to do the right thing, that believes Christianity is both stupid and degenerate; in the second camp is the distant descendant of Judas Iscariot, a warlike tribe demanding dominion of the entire planet, that feels called by God to dominate, to dominate with fire and might, and if domination is not possible, then destruction, destruction, destruction. These are the two camps, marching as to war. But these camps are both minorities.
The majority of good people are found between the two camps, and they may hear the reason coming from the left, and feel the faith coming from the right. There is distinct reason on the left, and a distinct lack of reason on the right; whereas there is distinct faith on the right, and a distinct lack of faith on the left. Good and bad, on both sides.
Thomas Jefferson is a prime example of a man in the middle, a man of powerful faith, and uncompromising reason. There are many waking to this possibility, the possible coexistence of spirituality and intelligence. It is possible to believe in God without hatred, to believe that God is love, not hate, and to believe it is not a sin to THINK.
Do NOT Be Deceived. Do NOT be fooled, Christianity has never been about political power,
or ruling by force, or by instituted man-made law. But a false Christianity has always existed,
even directly within Jesus' own followers; there have always been those who want to destroy
those who disagree, who want to call down fire out of heaven, who even betray Jesus
in the hopes that He will rise up with power and might. But this is not Christianity.
“And I myself was more alive than I had ever been; it was like waking from sleep.
So intense a life cannot be endured long by flesh and blood; we must ordinarily
take our life watered down, diluted as it were, by time and space and matter."
- Joy Davidman
“The more there are riots, the more repressive action will take place, and the more
we face the danger of a right-wing takeover and eventually a fascist society.”
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
“The motivating dream of the movement is the restoration of an imagined Christian nation. With a revisionist history that claims the founders never intended to create a secular country and that separation of church and state is a lie fostered by conniving leftists, Christian nationalism rejects the idea of government religious neutrality. The movement argues that the absence of religion in public is itself a religion – the malign faith of secular humanism – that must, in the interest of fairness, be balanced with equal deference to the Bible.”
